First Tenant and Office Inspiration

StartPad signed up our 1st tenant last week (2nd if you count Blue Dot); in addition to Blue Dot we now have the Entertonement development team in our Pioneer Square office. Entertonement's imminent arrival was a great excuse to do some heavy-duty spring cleaning around the office. Kim and I spent 3 solid days last week cleaning out the detritus of a year's worth of accumulated junk. She also had the great idea to put a foosball table in our otherwise unused entry space.

Speaking of offices, I found a great site that shows the interior of office spaces of other startups (primarily in SF - but also around the country/world): Office Snapshots shows the interiors of a bunch of different startups including Digg, Facebook, Bebo, Craigslist, Google-NY, FlickR, Eventful, LinkedIn, Ning, Revver, Twitter, and WebMD.

Yesterday, Patrick Pendergast, (Washington Partners Corporate Real Estate) gave me a tour of some Seattle properties that would be ideal for StartPad expansion. One I liked particularly is divided into 7 large private offices that would be very suitable for 1 to 4 people in each. It also has a large central common area for guest offices, and a large conference room.

  • Open office configuration (room for 10-15 total)
  • 8 person conference room (closed door)
  • Kitchen
  • Utility Closet/Server Room
  • Internet Access (office use - not for production deployment)
  • $300/mo per person (full time desk)
  • Adjacent to Occidental Park and Elliot Bay Bookstore, numerous coffee shops and lunchtime restaurants.
  • 4th floor (elevator)


Our office has basic furnishings with internet (wired or wireless) at each desk.

We're seeking startups working on Web 2.0 or internet services. We appreciate keeping sound to a conversational level in the office, but we're also looking for positive interactions between our our co-tenants.
